CHENNAI: Stage is the backbone of any entertainment because it is the one place where you get appreciation or criticism immediately,” said actor-politician Sarath Kumar at the interactive session held for the launch of the Tanglish comedy play, ‘Wild Tales’, which also marks his theatre debut.
‘Wild Tales’ is a compilation of four short stories, taking the audience on a journey that includes a vault robbery, murder mystery, love story and a horror musical.

“We wanted the play to be in Tanglish so it is more interactive for the audience,” the actor explained. “We want to revive theatre and stage by making it more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. When I heard the script I thought this was ideal because this play is one hell of a fun, wild and entertaining ride!”
The director, Sriram Jeevan, spoke of how one of his biggest concerns was whether he would get backing for the play.

“I didn’t know if I would get producers,” he said. “And once we got a producer, we wanted a face to hold the production and Sarath Kumar was very apt for that. He is a great actor with so many years of experience and yet is so humble and easy to work with.”

The producer, Vinay Grandhi, said the play was a twisted, zany and rib-tickling ride.“The director Sriram is a very dynamic person and having Sarath Kumar on board has given us a major facelift. We were looking for fresh talents in the industry,” he said. The cast also includes popular faces like Sabari, Raghav, Angu, Diana, Singer Nivas, Soundarya, Sebastin, Mirchi Shiva Shankari, RJ Dinesh, RJ Giri, Mirchi Saba, Maheswar and Savina.

The play will be presented at The Music Academy on November 4, 2018 at 5 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are available on bookmyshow and for further information, contact 7824048484.
