Corporation schools’ pass percentage up by 3.5 this year

This year, the number of students scoring marks in range of 451-500 has increased to 50 against 24 last year. Similarly, 305 students have scored marks between 401-450 against 148 last year.

CHENNAI: Corporation schools recorded a pass percentage of 79.60 this year in Class 10 state board exams, which is almost 3.5% higher than the previous year. Students have also shown improvement in overall performance. 

This year, the number of students scoring marks in the range of 451-500 has increased to 50 against 24 last year. Similarly, 305 students scored marks between 401-450 against 148 last year. While 704 students have scored between 351-400 this year, it stood at 359 last year.  

 A total of 6,913 students, including 3,538 boys and 3,375 girls, appeared for Class 10 examinations. A total of 2,622 (74.11%) boys and 2,881 (85.36%) girls passed. Twelve students scored 99% marks. Three students have scored centum -- two in Maths and one in Science.

The highest mark of 493 out of 500 was scored by a student from Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School on Pulla Avenue, followed by 475/500 by a student of Market Street School. High schools in Rangarajapuram and Thousand Lights have recorded 100% results.  Kodungaiyur High School has recorded the second-highest pass with 98.04% and Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School in Nungambakkam has recorded a pass of 97.92% in the city.
