NEW DELHI: A teenager was raped, murdered and then burnt by two stalkers in Delhi’ Gandhi Nagar area.
The incident happened on July 28 when police recovered the charred body of a teenage girl from a house in East Delhi. During the preliminary investigation, police assumed that it was a suicide, but the autopsy report of the deceased revealed that she was strangulated to death and her body was set on fire.
Sources close of the investigation said that they suspected that it could a case of sexual assault because lower portion of victim’s body was found burned.
“During investigation, a victim’s friend disclosed that they were stalked by two youth in the locality. When her friend (deceased) refused friendship proposal of one of the stalkers, he got infuriated and threatened to kill her. She was also harassed and assaulted by the another stalker,” police said.
Police said that after the testimony of the deceased’s friend, they have arrested two youth Danish and Ashu, who were stalking and harassing both girls. During identification, the victim’s friend identifed both the youth who were stalking them.
During interrogation, youth confessed that the girl was first raped and then strangulated. To conceal sexual assault, they burned the lower portion of the body and wrapped it in a blanket and fled the room.
“The girl claimed that she was also sexually assaulted by them. Cops will now registered two separate cases, one for the murder and another of harassment,” said a senior police official. One of the arrested accused is a serial sexual offender.
