NEW DELHI: A bag containing a pistol and cartridges was found in the JNU campus, which is witnessing an agitation by a section of students over the disappearance of M.Sc. Biotechnology student Najeeb Ahmed. The black coloured bag was noticed by a security guard at JNU around 2 AM today.

It contained a 7.65mm pistol, seven cartridges and a screwdriver, a senior police officer said. The guard informed about the bag to the JNU authorities who in turn called the police. A case under the Arms Act has been registered and an investigation has been initiated, the officer said.

A section of JNU students is agitating over the issue of disappearance of Najeeb. They have also been joined by the mother and sister of the missing 27-year-old, a student of the School of Biotechnology and a native of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh.

Najeeb went missing on October 15 following an on-campus scuffle allegedly with the members of the ABVP.
