NEW DELHI: The official websites of four premier educational institutions — Delhi University (DU), Aligarh Muslim University, IIT-Delhi and IIT-BHU — were hacked on Tuesday and “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans displayed on them. The hacker group, which identified itself as “PHC”, said, “Nothing deleted or stolen. Just here to deliver my message to Indians.”

The DU site displayed messages against soldiers and the Army charging them of ‘rape’ and ‘killings’ in Kashmir. The hackers also posted messages like “Pakistan Zindabad” and “#Security is just an illusion” on the site. “! stuck By PHC” was the punch line at the top of the hacked page.

The hacked web pages said, “Do you know what your so called heroes are doing in Kashmir? Do you know they are killing so many innocent people in Kashmir?”

“Do you know they have raped many girls? Do you know they still are raping girls in Kashmir? How would you feel if your brother, sister, father and mother gets killed? How would you feel if someone rapes your mother or sister? Won’t your life and your families be destroyed?” it added.

The incident happened at a time when thousands of students all over the country visit the DU website (du.ac.in) to check registrations for admissions.

The registration process has already been delayed and the present ‘security breach’ is indicative of the fact that the DU website is not fully secured and is prone to cyber attacks.

Ajay Kumar Gupta, director, Delhi University Computer Centre, said the website was hacked from the domain provided by ERNET. “Many other government official websites have also been hacked,” he said.

“DNS server provided by ERNET has been hacked. Many government websites have been hacked, we made a complaint and now it appears to be resolved,” he added.
