Delhi: 82-year-old woman, daughters, security guard found dead in Mansarovar Park

Police officials are suspecting that someone known to the victims might have killed them, since, till now, there is no evidence of forced entry into the house.

NEW DELHI: A mentally unstable women, her mother and two sisters, along with a guard were found dead with their throats slit open at their residence in Shahadra area of East Delhi on Saturday morning.

According to the police, it appeared that some family members with the help of two to three persons killed the five. The police suspect property dispute behind the killings while family members allege the role of an outsider to commit robbery.

“The deceased have been identified as Urmila Jindal (82), her daughters Sangeeta Gupta (58), Nupur Jindal (48) and Anjali Jindal (38). Neighbours and family members said while Sangeeta was a widow, the other two women were unmarried. One of them was mentally unstable and had been under treatment for some time,” a police official in Shahadra district said.

The incident came to light when a flower vendor failed to spot the guard, identified as Rakesh Kumar, around. When he opened the main gate, he found his motionless body.

“Initally we got a call reporting a murder, but when cops reached the spot, they found all four of family members lying in a pool of blood. The bodies were lying on the sofa, bed and on the floor. There was blood all over and a safe containing valuables were cut open,” official added.

“We are probing the case from all the possible angles. Family members and friends are being questioned. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and a case of murder has been registered,” said Shahadra DCP Nupur Prasad.
