Reach office before 9.45 am or face action: Delhi WCD to staff

NEW DELHI: Cracking the whip on latecomers, the women and child development department of the Delhi government has issued a strict warning to its employees reporting late to their offices.

The department has issued an order saying that those reporting after 09:45 am will be considered "late" and on every three latecomings, one casual leave will be deducted automatically.

It said officials will have to submit an explanation to the director of the department detailing the reason for coming late.

"The official reporting time is 9.30 am. Appropriate action will be taken as per rules against officers/ officials, who are habitual latecomers," WCD Director Shilpa Shinde said in the order issued last week.

The order also stated that an attendance sheet of all staff working in different branches of the department would be prepared and submitted to the director on the first working day of every month.

Last year, Chief Secretary M M Kutty had warned latecomers at the Delhi Secretariat, which houses several departments, including transport, PWD, finance, power, offices of all ministers including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's.

Kutty directed Secretary (General Administration Department) to keep a watch on the attendance of officials and ensure that they mark themselves present in the biometric attendance system.
