NEW DELHI: Excitement is ruling high among state unit of BJP leaders after the resounding victory on the Rajouri Garden assembly seat. Party’s senior leadership has instructed the Delhi BJP leaders that they should intensify the campaign to keep the mood upbeat till the municipal polls in Delhi. Moreover, BJP believes that AAP has lost its trust of people in Delhi as the result of the assembly seat has rightly revealed and the party has clearly told its state unit leaders to highlight this in the campaign.

“The message is loud and clear and party wants to keep the momentum going till April 23. Now, there is enough reason to hit Arvind Kejriwal, the face of the Aam Admi Party in the backdrop of the bypoll result and people would readily accept this. Leaders have been told to highlight this in campaign, in every public meeting that how people are disillusioned with Kejriwal and his party,” said a BJP insider while speaking about the strategy of the party after the victory on Rajouri Garden assembly seat.

Following the strategy BJP leaders have started slamming Arvind Kejriwal and his party for cheating with people of Delhi. During a public meeting in Tughlaqabad, BJP parliamentarian Ramesh Bidhuri said, “People of Delhi have been badly let down by Arvind Kejriwal and they feel cheated. People of Delhi especially those living in villages and unauthorized colonies are worst effected with almost no development work reaching them and AAP will pay a price in civic elections.”

Apart from this, BJP’s senior leadership has also directed the state unit to intensify the campaign in every ward in the city. On Friday, party workers celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti in all 272 wards while reaching out to people ahead of polls.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari on Friday said that there is a total disenchantment amongst the workers of AAP. “The way Arvind Kejriwal has gone into shell since yesterday’s defeat it shows that Kejriwal is a Hitler who takes responsibility of only success,” said Tiwari.

Tiwari also slammed Congress saying candidate Meenakshi Chandela lost not only in the ward she lives in but even on the polling booth of Rajouri Garden Vidhan Sabha where Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken lives which clearly establishes that Congress has lost all connect with the people.

BJP leaders said that the victory on the Rajouri Garden seat has helped the party in many ways. “Infighting and displeasure among some leaders have now taken back seat. Earlier, many senior councilors were feeling disgruntled as they were not given tickets. Now, those voices of protests have subsided as they started feeling that they have no option but to follow the instruction. In fact, they have agreed to help the new candidates fielded from their areas,” said a party leader.

BJP insiders said that the party is basically working on the strategy to make the municipal poll a triangular contest, between BJP, Congress and AAP, because this helped the party in winning Rajouri Garden seat. “Our candidate Manjinder Sirsa got even lesser votes than what he got in 2015 polls, but, he emerged winner due to triangular fight,” added the leader. BJP Akali candidate Manjinder Sirsa polled 40,602 thousand in the bypoll while in 2015 assembly poll he had got 44,880 votes.
