Delhi Police HQ receives ‘hoax’ bomb threat, teenager held

NEW DELHI: A threat email, received at the Delhi Police headquarters, mentioning the presence of explosives in Nangloi area was stated to be a hoax by the officials after cops thoroughly checked the said site. A senior police official said a bomb threat was received via email in the Police HQ and the sender of the email was revealed to be a minor boy. The official said a teenage boy sent the mail to the Delhi Police headquarters, saying a bomb had been planted in outer Delhi’s Nangloi area, near the Nangloi Railway Station.The mail was sent to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora’s official email ID at 10 am on Thursday.

Soon after the email, a team was deployed to the specified site and it was thoroughly checked but nothing suspicious was found. Later when the police began probing the origin of the email, they traced it the boy and apprehended him, police said, adding that details of his identity cannot be shared. They said the mail was sent as an act of mischief and the juvenile, after proper counselling, was handed over to his parents.
