NEW DELHI: Delhi Police’s Special Cell has nabbed the third sharpshooter of Jitender Gogi gang, which was allegedly involved in the November 4 firing incidents in Nangloi and Alipur areas, an official has said.

The accused identified as Ramniwas a.k.a Mogli, a Delhi resident, was working on directions of incarcerated gangster Yogesh Tunda and absconding criminal Monty Maan, among others.

The city recorded two firing incidents on Monday — one at a property dealer’s office in Alipur and another one at a furniture shop in Nangloi — following which the police initiated an investigation to catch the culprits.

Official sources said the shooters in Nangloi left behind a chit with the name of jailed gangster Ankesh Lakra scribbled in it, along with a Rs 5 crore ransom demand. Apart from this, the shooters also dropped photos of deceased gangsters Jitender Gogi and Kuldeep Fazza.

The Crime Branch arrested two of the shooters Akash Rathore and a juvenile on November 6 while the third shooter Mogli remained at large.

DCP (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said teams were formed to trace the shooters involved, using CCTV footage and manual inputs.

“Later, one of the suspects was identified as Ramniwas alias Mogli. Despite conducting raids, the suspect could not be located,” the officer said.

The cops then received a tip-off that the suspect would be coming to Shahbad Dairy area on November 13 following which a a trap was laid near the road from Jain colony towards Khera Canal, Alipur.

When Ramniwas approached the area on a bike, and police asked him to stop, he accelerated his bike, lost control and fell. Soon, an exchange of fire took place between him and the police, in which the former sustained a bullet injury, Kaushik said.

He was then subdued. A semi-automatic pistol with four live rounds, a country-made pistol with two live rounds and a stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
