NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old woman was shot dead in Delhi’s GTB Enclave area on Monday. Police said the victim, identified as Saira, sustained two bullet injuries.

A senior police officer said, “A PCR call was received at the GTB Enclave police station around midnight, reporting that a woman had been shot and was lying on the ground with bullet injuries. Upon reaching the scene, local police found the woman’s body on the service road near MIG Flats, opposite Sunder Nagri.” The victim was identified as Saira, who had been living with her sister and her husband in Kodi Colony after the recent death of their mother.

Her father had passed away years ago. Saira is survived by two brothers and two sisters. Police have examined nearby CCTV footage to understand the sequence of events leading to the shooting. Officials said they are considering all angles and multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the suspect.

Saira’s family was informed of her death early Tuesday morning when a police team arrived at their house to inquire about her.

Family members expressed their grief, stating they were still mourning the loss of their mother when this tragic incident took place. Local residents reported hearing what they initially thought were crackers being set off, but upon investigating, they found a large crowd gathered at the spot.
