NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the security of its national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, was once again compromised during a ‘Jan Sabha’ in Hari Nagar, where his vehicle was attacked by associates of the opposition candidate in the presence of police.

AAP accused the Delhi Police of operating under the orders of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that the police force had become “BJP’s personal army.”

The party demanded accountability from the Election Commission, questioning its failure to protect national leaders amid repeated attacks.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate’s men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car. All this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah. Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP. Big questions are being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked, and the Election Commission is unable to take any effective action.”

AAP, in its statement, said the incident marked a disturbing display of lawlessness, as the opposition candidate’s supporters relentlessly attacked Kejriwal’s vehicle. “The attack left Kejriwal stranded in his car for a significant period, with the police standing by without intervening to provide protection. This raises serious concerns.”
