HYDERABAD: A comprehensive storm water drainage system master plan for the entire Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area is on the anvil.
M/s Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd has been appointed as the consultants to investigate and study the storm water drainage system of the GHMC and to prepare a comprehensive SWD master plan. The estimated project cost is about Rs 1,500 crore.
Speaking to reporters here today, GHMC Commissioner S P Singh said that remodelling of certain nalas have been taken based on the reports of Kirloskar consultants, which includes Hussainsagar Surplus Nala, Balkapur channel, Murki, Begumpet nala etc at a cost of Rs 201 crore.
For the secondary nalas priority wise detailed project reports are being prepared at a cost of Rs 125 crore and will be submitted to Government of India (GoI) for according sanction.
Soon after receiving the approval from the Government, these works will also be taken up, the Commissioner said.
He said steps are being taken to make the city dustbin less as door-todoor garbage collection is being extended to all 18 circles of the GHMC.
The corporation has proposed to construct 100 new modern toilets in different parts of the city. To deal with solid waste, a Rs 987 crore Integrated Solid Waste Management would be put in place next month.
All the four major burial grounds are being developed immediately with lawns & greenery in Panjagutta, Sanjeev Reddy Nagar, Amberpet and Bansilalpet. As many as 200 new colony parks are being developed and would be completed by March and another 100 new colony parks will come up by May. A major Rock Garden is being developed on Road No.87 Jubilee Hills in 33 acres. It will have variety of themes like ropeways, water falls, etc. Two more major parks are being developed on Road No.51, Jubilee Hills, in 8 acres and a Butterfly Park in 12 acres on Road No.
