HYDERABAD: The State Government has selected Yasher Architects of Israel for building an iconic and world-class central office of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on the premises of National Academy of Construction (NAC), near Hitex, at Madhapur here.

The plan of Yasher reflects a fine blend of the past, present and future architectural concepts.

The iconic building, to cost between Rs 80 crore and Rs 100 crore, will have 10 to 15 floors having an area of 4.5 lakh sq.ft.

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had, while laying the foundation stone for HMDA office building on Aug, wanted a world-class building spread over 8.5 acres to house the central office of HMDA. Accordingly, reputed consultants like SMC Alsop (Singapore), Genesis Planners (Hyderabad), Inform Architects (Bangalore), Yasher Architects (Israel) and Innovative Design Group (Hyderabad) were invited, with the assistance of Builders Association of India, to submit conceptual plans and drawings. After a preliminary round of scrutiny, the four were shortlisted for final presentation of their proposals to the chief minister on Nov 6.

The chief minister liked the conceptual plans submitted by Yasher Architects of Israel and the architect has been asked to work out further details and modalities.

HMDA officials told Express that with concept designs being finalised, detail designs would be prepared in two to three months’ time after which the tender process will begin.
