A SANITARY inspector of Gaddiannaram municipality has been sentenced to oneyear rigorous imprisonment (RI) for taking bribe.

P Ramanjul Reddy was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rs 500 by a special court for ACB cases.

He was caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials in 2003 when he took Rs 5,000 bribe from a person to recommend sanction of drainage connection.

In another case, the government has withheld the pension and gratuity of Shaik Mahaboob, former assistant director, Government ITI (Old City), and Alwal ITI’s former office superintendent MR Yethi Raju permanently.

Both the officers were found to have committed grave criminal misconduct and purchased tools and equipment beyond their financial limits and powers and at exorbitant rates and caused wrongful loss of Rs 3.68 lakh to the government,.
