A Meeting with Fate

As I walk into Inseeya Khambati’s brightly lit apartment and into her office, I am surprised by the lack of occult-esquire knick-knacks. As she sits down, she places several decks of cards on the table between us - each wrapped in cotton. “It is important to wrap your tarot cards in a natural fabric that has been energised with you own energy,” she explains, before I ask her to tell me her story. Soon we settle down and she begins.

“I used to be a software engineer. then at one point, I began to feel dissatisfied with my life. So I began with Reki. In fact, then, I was quite doubtful of its effectiveness. For the first two-three months I learnt and practised Reki, I felt no difference. But when I went to the second level, I began to feel the changes within me. That was when I began to have faith,” she narrates. “You see, Reki, Feng Shui and Tarot are like a calling. They called to me, and I answered that call,” she elaborates.

But things weren’t all sunshine and roses for Inseeya, when she decided to follow this new path in her life. “I am a Muslim woman, and that too from a staunch Muslim family. When I first ventured into the world of Feng Shui and Tarot, my family wasn’t too happy. We do not believe in idol worship, and my family was confused and apprehensive when they saw the many Feng Shui idols I had begun to acquire. Also, Tarot basically divines the future, which, again is not in line with Muslim ideology. But then I spoke with my priest, and he was quite supportive and now my family understands what I do.”

So what are the questions a Tarot card reader hears most often? “The most common questions are about love,” she proclaims, as she laughs, “Everyone want to know if the person they are in love with likes them back, or if they will fall in love or when they will get married! After questions about love, people tend to ask either about their education or career. And that’s pretty much it,” she concludes. Well, no surprises there!

But sometimes, in Inseeya’s line of work, things can sometimes get entertaining. “One of the funniest requests I got was from a very grumpy looking, bald, overweight man of about 40. He was in love with a woman from his workplace and he wanted to know whether he had a chance with her,” she narrates, “I simply smiled and told him that I didn’t need the Tarot to find the answer to his question. I told him to buck up, and get healthier, and more importantly, figure out how to become happier. No woman wants to be with a grumpy man! A woman wants to be charmed and unless you are happy, you cannot be charming!”

She practices Feng Shui, Reki and Tarot. What are the different applications for these three arts? “See, both Feng Shui and Reki can provide solutions for problems. Like if you have a relationship problem or a physical aliment, then Reki is usually very helpful. Or if you want to increase the energy flow in you home or workplace, or alter it in any way, then Feng Shui is very helpful. But before you can go about searching for a solution, you need to figure out what the problem is. That is where Tarot comes in. The Tarot Cards will divine where your problem really lie, and can guide you to possible solutions.”
