Trip along

Planning a trip to a city or town close by and working out your itinerary? How about getting your friends to lend a hand? Traverik, an online tool, lets you collaborate with friends and travel mates and create a holiday to remember.

“It is targeted at the casual and weekend travellers,” says Ashutosh Pandey, 26, explaining its purpose, “Often on short trips you have to depend on the locals for sightseeing. As a result, you end up losing time.”

Behind the scenes

Launched as a private beta version in June, the site was built to meet Pandey’s travel needs. “Everytime I visited a place on weekends, I didn’t do a lot of research and relied on locals. I realised I needed to plan a little before going,” says the Bengaluru-based founder, who worked with commonfloor.com as a senior product engineer before Traverik.

In the process

So once you login and fill in the place you want to visit, you will get an itinerary which can be customised. “We also suggest itineraries based on the time you will arrive at the place,” says Pandey, who is planning to tie up with tour guides and operators to give users ‘a wholesome experience’ within six months. Plus, you can collaborate with your cotravellers who will have the freedom to change your itinerary or make comments on it. The site, with 150 members, will be out for public use next week. “I am modifying the site based on the feedback I get,” he tells us.

Up next are mobile apps on Android and iOS platforms in three months.
