HYDERABAD: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the biggest coal producing company in the country, has produced 239 million tons of coal against the target of 221 million tons during the 11th Five Year Plan during 2007-12.

The company has registered highest ever production of 52.22 million tons of coal against target of 51.22 million tons during 2011-12 from underground mines and opencast mines.

 Addressing newsmen at Singareni Bhavan here on Saturday, SCCL chairman and managing director S Narasing Rao said the company has achieved the highest growth rate of 36 per cent in the last five years.

Similarly, it has achieved 6.78 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during the 11th Plan period compared to all-India CAGR at 5 per cent and Coal India CAGR at 4.4 per cent.

 Notwithstanding hurdles like Telangana agitation in the state, the company has produced 3.7 million tons where it has supplied 186.8 lakh tons of coal to APGenco.

It has also supplied 12.25 million tons coal to NTPC.

First time in its history, the collieries company achieved highest gross turnover of Rs 11,456 crore this year.
