5 cops injured in attack by Africans

HYDERABAD: Five policemen, including a sub-inspector and a head constable, were severely injured when a group of 10 African nationals attacked the Langer Houz police station here on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Five policemen, including a sub-inspector and a head constable, were severely injured when a group of 10 African nationals attacked the Langer Houz police station here on Thursday. According to the Langar Houz police, they brought two persons _ Hussain, a resident of  Salarjung Colony, and Admon, an African, for interrogation in connection with a teasing case. Hussain lodged a complaint with the police that Admon had teased him near a church at Salarjung Colony.

“Around 10 Africans descended on the police station at around 7.30 pm. and exchanged heated arguments with us. They attacked the staff on the premises in which an SI, a head constable and three constables received severe injuries,” Ratnam, inspector, said.

Police registered cases against the Africans under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to prevent public servants from discharging their duties) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons) of IPC.
