HYDERABAD: With byelections to the 18 Assembly constituencies scheduled to be held shortly, the state government has sanctioned four lakh LPG connections to BPL women under Deepam scheme during the current financial year.
The commissioner of civil supplies would issue district-wise and company wise allotment of LPG connections under Deepam scheme based on the population of Census 2011. The state government issued an order to this effect on Saturday. All the district collectors and chief rationing officer, Hyderabad have been directed to make mandal-wise, municipal corporation, municipality-wise, gram panchayat-wise allocation keeping in view the population, demand in such areas.
Fresh guidelines for selection of beneficiaries under Deepam scheme are being prepared and would be issued separately. Selection of beneficiaries will be done as per the fresh guidelines.
The state-level coordinator for oil industry and all the state-level officers of the oil marketing companies such as HPCL, IOCL, BPCL have been directed to issue LPG distributor-wise allocation orders and required equipment immediately so as to enable the district administration to commence grounding of LPG connections.
