HYDERABAD: Police conducted raids on an apartment and arrested one person involved in betting on cricket IPL-V here on Tuesday. Police seized Rs 2.1 lakh cash, 20 cell phones, a laptop and two TV sets from the flat.

On a tip off, police raided flat number 405 in Shanti Sudha Apartments and arrested Narasimha, organiser of the betting gang, belonging to Proddatur.

Two more accused managed to escape from the spot.  Punjagutta ACP D Venkata Narsaiah said that Narasimha, along with two of his associates -- Nissar and Lara -- has been running three cricket betting gangs from separate places in the city.

After nabbing Narasimha, police raided two other locations -- MS Makhta and Ameerpet -- but the accused got to know about the arrests and fled from the spot. ‘‘However, we have seized computers and other incriminating evidence from the spots,’’ police said.

Narasimha’s team alone conducted betting for Rs 50 lakh on the match held between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super kings .
