HYDERABAD: As people in coastal villages and towns survived anxious moments, there was no such panic in Hyderabad as it was not affected by the quake in Indonesia.
“Hyderabad is in Deccan plateau which is relatively insulated against any seismic shocks. Another reason is that the epi-centre of the quake is quite far off from Hyderabad,” M Shashidhar Reddy, vice chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) told ENS from Delhi.
According to him, the villages on AP coast experienced mild tremors since they were right on the shore.
But from shore to the capital city of AP, it is land all the way. “This is another reason why Hyderabad did not experience any tremors,’ Shashidhar Reddy said.
