HYDERABAD: Police on Saturday arrested a person who allegedly had thrown pieces of meat at a place of worship located at SP Nagar, Nanda Muslaiguda in Bahadurpura police station limits. Police said a complaint was registered on April 10 and they had registered a case and investigated the matter.

The accused has been identified as G Siva Kumar alias Rakesh Tej. During investigation, it was revealed that with a feeling of insecurity and an intention of bringing a police picket to his locality, he had purchased beef from a local shop and thrown it inside the place of worship and then spread rumours that some one has thrown beef there and created tension in the locality.

Police produced him in court and he was remanded to custody.

Police appealed to the public not to believe in rumours and has requested them to get in touch with local police, in case of any doubt. All sections of the community have to put in efforts to ensure that normalcy returns to old city.
