HYDERABAD: Prof Shantha Sinha, chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) will be conferred with the prestigious Yudhvir Memorial Foundation Award for the year 2012, for her pioneering and innovative role in protection and promoting child rights. The 21st Yudhvir Memorial Foundation Award would be presented to her at a function to be held at FAPCCI Bhavan here on April 30 on the birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and journalist late Yudhvir.

Shantha Sinha will deliver a lecture on ‘Deficit Child and Indian Democracy’ on the occasion. She established the MV Foundation which was instrumental in sending over  four child labourers to school.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,  musician Pandit Jasraj, space scientist UR Rao and film-maker Shyam Benegal were among those s who received the award previously.
