Oxford Bookstore, Hyderabad and Harper Collins Publishers India Ltd.

organized the book launch of ‘Infinite Vision’ co-authored by Suchitra Shenoy and Pavithra K Mehta. The book projects the story of the lifelong ambition of Dr Venkataswamy (better known as Dr V) to cure the world of blindness.

It uncovers the radical principles behind the tiny clinic, Aravind’s baffling success. Charged with profound insights and stories, it draws the readers to the heart of Dr G Venkataswamy’s (better known as Dr V) selfless vision, proving how choices that seem quixotic can, when executed with compassion and integrity, yield incredible results. The book also beautifully portrays how choices that seem naïve or unworkable, when implemented with wisdom and integrity, yield effective results - results that light the eyes of millions.

Highlighting the sincere and nobel efforts of Dr V and his team (which now includes 21 ophthalmologists across three generations of his family), Infinte Vision depicts the global phenomenon that is Aravind’s clinic.

A documentary film has also been made on the life and work of Dr Venkataswamy, co-author Pavithra’s grand uncle, which helped put forth the emotional and touching story behind Aravind’s emergence.

Author Suchitra Shenoy is a member of the Advisory board of Youth for Jobs Foundation, Hyderabad and founding member of the Inclusive Markets team at the Monitor Group, an international consulting firm.

On the other hand, co-author Pavithra K Mehta is a debutant writer who aims to project the intersection of story-telling with service, and has been collecting stories at Aravind ever since childhood. She is also an award-winning filmmaker. The book launch was an intriguing session as the authors read out excerpts from their book followed by a book signing session. They shared insights into the life of Dr Vekataswamy which highlighted the depth of scholarship and pure inspiration that the authors have derived and have provided in the book
