HYDERABAD: Dealing with a writ petition filed by members of the Telangana Auto Drivers’ Trade Union, Justice R Subhash Reddy of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday ordered the state government to permit plying of 4-seater autos having registration numbers of AP28 and AP29 of Rangareddy district in the GHMC limits.
The petitioners, in their writ petition, contended the traffic police had imposed restrictions by stopping plying of auto rickshaws of the above series in the name of “special drive against auto violation” without any order or notification authorised by law.
They requested the court to issue an order by declaring the respondents’ (home secretary, additional commissioner of police (Traffic) and transport commissioner) action as illegal and direct them not to prohibit plying of autos having AP28 and AP29 plates in city limits.
There are about 31,000 autos with the above series
