HYDERABAD: Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain took serious note of the complaints put forward by the Standing Committee members on the  special drive for debris removal in connection with Milad-un-Abi festival, which has been reduced to only two days. He directed officials to take up the work of debris removal for the period mentioned earlier and not just for two days, as currently conducted.

He also mentioned that the services of the “Enforcement Squad” will soon be employed at night to identify persons involved in acts of debris dumping and to penalise the culprits and directed respective zonal commissioners to identify points to dump the debris.

The mayor also took a stand on the operation and maintenance of modernised slaughter houses, by agreeing with the committee’s decision to call nationalwide tenders for setting up the same. To ensure quality is not compromised, third party quality control will be in place and if the committee is not satisfied with the quality, options have been provided to cross check the quality of construction in consultation with JNTU or any other IIT institute.
