HYDERABAD: The state government gave an undertaking to the High Court on Friday that it would not proceed with any activity relating to alignment of Corridor III of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project in the city that covers the Greenlands-Ameerpet-Yousufguda stretch.

The undertaking was given by the government pleader before justice L. Narasimha Reddy who was hearing a writ petition filed by GAMYS JAC and 20 local traders challenging the change in the alignment of Corridor III from Nagole to Shilparamam without regard to the efficacy of the alternative route initially approved for the said segment, as arbitrary and illegal and violation of the norms of elevated rail transport followed globally. When it was complained that the authorities were not, on one hand, filing their response before the court and on the other proceeding with the works, the government pleader assured the court that they would not carry out any operations until they came up with their counter affidavit in a week's time.
