HYDERABAD: City police on Sunday arrested two property offenders and seized gold, silver ornaments and electronic appliances worth Rs 35 lakh from them. Bowenpally police nabbed a burglar E Rajender (26) from his house at Kothapet. He was wanted in 29 burglary cases, police said.

Rajender used to work as a clerk with an advocate in Baghamberpet earlier.

Later, he joined hands with a property offender, Narasimha Chary and the duo were committing thefts, police said. Explaining his modus operandi, police said, Rajender used to roam around in colonies looking for locked houses during day and commit thefts at night.

"We recovered 63.5 tola of gold, 1.25 kilo of silver ornaments, electronic goods and three two-wheelers worth Rs 25 lakh,” police said. Meanwhile, Habeebnagar police arrested the kingpin of a chain snatching gang which used to target women in crowded buses. The accused, Shaik Ismail, is a resident of Mangarbasti in Habeebnagar.

Ismail along with six associates committed 21 thefts in city buses. "The gang used to surround women in the crowded buses and Ismail used to snap their gold chain," police said. Gold ornaments weighing 41 tola was recovered.
