According to the police, the deceased, P Srinivas, was repeatedly smashed with a pestle and the handle of a shovel. The incident came into the light on Tuesday morning, when the two accused alarmed the family members, feigning that some unidentified person have broke into their house and killed their brother.

Srinivas, the only son of Arjun and Savitramma, has five sisters, of whom three are married. Surekha (22) and Lakshmi (20) are unmarried. Surekha used to helps her father in his milk business while Lakshmi works as a domestic help in the neighbouring locality.

Meerpet police said Srinivas, who used to work as a DCM driver, quit the job and got addicted to alcohol. According to the family members, Srinivas came home drunk on Monday around 7 pm and started to create nuisance. Unable to bear it, the family members went away to the cowshed.

On returning home, Savitramma slept in the verandah while the two sisters slept in the hall in which Srinivas was already sleeping.

"Around midnight, Srinivas woke up and tried to misbehave with Surekha, which lead to an altercation between him and the two sisters. In a fit of rage, the sisters beat up Srinivas repeatedly with a pestle and the wooden handle of a shovel, leading to his death," police said.

The sisters, however, did not wake up the family members but stayed in the same room. In the wee hours, they raised an alarm that some unidentified persons entered into the house and killed their brother. They also cleaned up the pestle.

But, police did not found any evidence of intrusion into the house. During questioning, the sisters confessed the crime. Police also found traces of blood stains on the clothes of the two women and the peastle. Police arrested the two sisters.
