HYDERABAD: The love for riding new bikes of two youths has landed them behind the bars. Chaderghat police on Tuesday night arrested two youths at Nalgonda Cross Roads during a routine check of vehicles and recovered nine two-wheelers worth `4.5 lakh from them.

Police said the accused, were identified as Mohd Imran (19) alias Pashu, a resident of Papaiah Basthi and Mohd Yaseen (19), a resident of Mahaboob Mansion. Imran is an employee of Hyderabad Race Club and Yasen is an air-conditioner mechanic.  During interrogation, the duo confessed that they had stolen bikes from Malakpet, Chaderghat and other places in the city.

Police said, Imran has a keen interest in riding new bikes. But, being poor, he could not afford them. After he expressed his desire before his friend Yaseen, the duo joined hands and started stealing bikes from various areas in the city, using duplicate keys.  After using the bikes for some time, they used to abandon them,” Sultan Bazar assistant commissioner of police G Someshwar Rao said.
