SANGAREDDY: A village assistant Chakaii Vittal (54) was beaten to death on the suspicion that he was a thief by Burgupalli villagers of Pedasankarampet mandal, near here Monday night.
Tension prevailed in the morning when his relatives arrived and got into an altercation with Burgupalli villagers.
Police later pacified the two warring groups.
The incident occurred when Vittal was walking back to his home in Kolapalli village late in the night.
Villagers thought he was a thief and beat him to death.
