HYDERABAD: A mother and her nine-month-old girl child were crushed under the wheels of a lorry at Keesara on Sunday.

The mother lost balance and fell on the ground along with her daughter after the twowheeler in which they were travelling was hit by a lorry and they came under its wheels.

The woman, Hemalatha (28), was a private employee and resident of Cherlapally.

She was married to Chittbabu and the couple have a nine-month girl child, Archana.

According to Keesara police sub-inspector B Bhaskar, Hemalatha's brother Venkatesh, who resides at Yadagirigutta, came to the city to take his sister to his place to attend a marriage.

“The duo were travelling on a two-wheeler and when it reached Rampally cheruvu, a sand-laden lorry tried to overtake the vehicle.

In the process, the lorry touched the front portion of the two-wheeler and the vehicle lost balance,'' Bhaskar said.

Hemalatha, who was pillion riding on the vehicle, lost balance and fell on the ground along with Archana and came under the rear wheels of the lorry.

The lorry driver, however, tried to flee but was chased and intercepted by a motorist and was handed over to the police.

Six-year-old Girl Raped by Youth

HYDERABAD: A 17-yearold youth allegedly raped a six-year-old girl at her residence in Kushaiguda police station limits here on Sunday According to police, parents of the girl lodged a complaint with the Kushaiguda police stating that their daughter was raped by their neighbour when they were away.

Police said at around 3 pm when the girl was alone in her hut as her parents were away at work, Akash allegedly raped the girl and later fled away from the place.

“The accused is still absconding.

We constituted a special team to nab him and sent the girl to hospital for medical examination.

Once we get the report, we will take action against the accused,’’ police said.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.
