KURNOOL: BJP state president G Kishan Reddy launched his Telangana Poru Yatra at Krishna village in Maganoor mandal, Mahaboobnagar district on Thursday.

The village is on the borders of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Party state affairs incharge Satish, Nizamabad MLA and Yatra Pramukh E Lakshminarayana, TJAC convener Prof Kodandaram, party state vice-president Ramakrishna Reddy, general secretaries T Achari, B Giddaiah, party Seva Section in-charge K Harish Babu and others participated in the yatra.

Addressing a public meeting at Maktal, party national president Nitin Gadkari said that people in the region should move ahead with the motive to defeat the Congress in 2014 polls as it had been cheating them for the last 56 years on statehood issue.

“People in the country will get relief only when the party heading the ruling coalition at the Centre was defeated in the polls,” he added.

Kishan Reddy called upon the people to teach a lesson to political parties adopting double standards on Telangana issue.

He predicted sweeping majority to pro- Telangana parties.

“The UPA government which is abetting corruption and implementing anti-people policies should be pulled down,” he said.

“Then alone will the country have a bright future.” He criticised the Congress for not introducing the Telangana bill in the Parliament.

“Once introduced, separate Telangana will be a reality,” he said.

The Sri Krishna Committee was appointed only to delay the process of Telangana, he said and charged the Congress with using statehood only as an issue for polls.

“The BJP, under the leadership of AB Vajpayee, formed Ut tarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh without any violence, agitations or bloodshed,” he claimed.

MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy, MLC Dilip Kumar, MRPS chief Manda Krishna Madiga also spoke at the meet.

Prof Kodandaram urged people to vote the BJP to power as it is promising separate Telangana.

He said that the yatra was not against political party but to achieve statehood to the region.

He also demanded that cases registered against T protagonists.

Roadshows were held at Danwada and Marikal.

The yatra received a good response from people.
