HYDERABAD: Tukaramgate police inspector S Santosh Kiram was on Monday suspended on charges of corrupt activities. He will be replaced by Central Crime Station inspector Vikram Dev. According to sources, Santosh Kiran faced allegations of demanding and accepting Rs 1 lakh from a person to settle a land issue in the latter's favour.
The person lodged a complaint with senior police officials a week back and city police commissioner AK Khan ordered an inquiry into the allegation.
Gopalapuram division assistant commissioner of police P V Muralidhar conducted an inquiry and submitted the report in which the inspector was found guilty of accepting the bribe, sources said.
Based on the report, the commissioner on Monday issued orders suspending Santosh Kiran.
