The factories department, for the first time, presented its tableau in the Republic Day parade and was awarded the first prize.

Governor ESL Narasimhan presented the trophy to G Balakishore, Director of Factories, Andhra Pradesh, in the presence of D Sreenivasulu, Secretary, Labour Training, Employment & Factories. Balakishore said the department had displayed the departmental activities taken up to ensure the safety and welfare of 11.54 lakh workers employed in 43,038 registered factories in the State. Minister for Labour Danam Nagender congratulated the department for bringing out a tableau and winning the first prize in its very first attempt.
