City sends lions to Czech Zoo

HYDERABAD: The Nehru Zoological Park here sent a pair of Asiatic lions,  10-year-old Avani and 5-year-old Brahma, to Dvur Kralove Zoo in Czech Republic by  Emirates Sky Cargo on Thursday.

Under an animal exchange programme the zoo was supposed to send 5 female crocodiles also along with lions but it did not owing to inclement weather prevailing in Europe. Officials plan to send them with in a couple of months if the weather permits.

Under the exchange programme city zoo received 3 cheetahs from the Dvur Kralove Zoo on February 17.  The Czech zoo was supposed to send two pairs of felines but one female cheetah could not be flown as it was carrying. It is likely to be sent in a year.
