HYDERABAD: The Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd, a navratna PSU with Southern Regional Headquarters in Secunderabad, donated 90 tricycles and 26 wheelchairs worth Rs 7 lakh to the differently-abled persons of Kandukur mandal and Maheshwaram mandal in Rangareddy district under its corporate social responsibility initiative here on Monday.

The wheel-chairs and tricycles were distributed by district collector V Seshadri at a function attended by V Sekhar, Executive Director, Power Grid, RY Rao, GM and R Subbalakshmy, additional general manager (HR) among others.

Speaking at the function, V Sekhar highlighted the various CSR activities taken up by the corporation in Andhra Pradesh.

V Seshadri, district collector, explained to the beneficiaries present the various schemes under which the differently-abled persons can avail of the opportunities created by the government.

He complimented the Power Grid for its CSR initiatives and promised government support.

Power Grid is constructing a 765Kv gas insulated substation near Kandukur and Maheshwaram mandal for evacuation of power from Vemagiri system.

The CSR activities are initiated in and around the project site by way of providing equipment for improving the quality of life of the differently-abled and providing training through a local NGO.

Powergrid has undertaken CSR Initiatives in different thrust areas broadly comprising physical infrastructure, education, health, environment, sports, arts & cultural heritage.
