Samantha’s BIG SEASON

With eight movies releasing this year, in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, time is a premium for Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Travelling on the job has taken her from Pollachi to Canada.

As for her projects, besides Gautham Menon’s trilingual, there is Eega, directed by Rajamouli, Autonagar Surya by Deva Katta, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu by Srikant, Kadal by Mani Ratnam, Yevado by Vamsi Paidipally and two more untitled films in Telugu.

Last seen in Dookudu opposite Mahesh Babu in 2011, the actress plans to surprise us with Nithya, the character she plays in Menon’s Neethane En Ponvasantham (Tamil), and the Hindi and Telugu versions.

MORE FROM SAMANTHA:

Neethane En Ponvasantham has been the most exciting project this year with my favourite director.

It is a romcom and I play the role of a college kid.

The movie describes the journey of the guy and the girl and could be anybody’s story.

There are so many scenes that I relate to.

It has been an exhausting affair.

It is a trilingual and I am the heroine in all three.

It has been taxing to do the same role in three languages but what I enjoyed is that all the three actors, be it Jiiva, Nani or Aditya Roy Kapoor, have their own take on each scene.

It helped me broaden my perspective and imagination.

Gautham brings out the best in an actor.

The styling for me in the movie is very energetic and vibrant.

The characters are not glossy, flashy or melodramatic.

I am not a trained actress.

I have never been to a film school and movies happened because I was modelling during college.

I am sure it has worked for a few but I do not believe in the school of acting.

I learn from my experience and from what I see around me.

My inspiration is movies not a person.

My favourites are Casablanca (1942) and Avatar (2009)

NEED TO KNOW FOOD:

I am not picky but I love seafood, fish and prawns UNWIND: New York.

I love the energy there and the people are always on the move.

Everyone has a plan, a goal and they live life king size NOT A SHOPAHOLIC: I hate shopping.

I settle for certain brands only because I need not go ou t looking for stuff ARTISTIC: I love art, be it in the form of music, painting, dance, poetry or sculptures.

But I cannot do any of this properly.

The only thing I manage to do is act BOLLYWOOD: I am from the South and I am not chasing Bollywood.

Gautham asked if I would like to do the Hindi version of Neethane En Ponvasantham and I accepted
