Extremists joined the march: Cops

Claiming that the police maintained utmost restraint, Hyderabad city police commissioner Anurag Sharma has said they have credible information about involvement of left-wing extremists in the March which otherwise would have been conducted peacefully.

Briefing the media here on Sunday evening, Sharma said the police were forced to use lathis, tear gas and water cannon because agitators broke the conditions for which permission was given for the march.

He said cases would be registered against those responsible for damage to vehicles and public property.

The agitators torched 35 vehicles belonging to the police and others.

He said 35 policemen, including IPS officer Rajasekhar, were injured in attack by the agitators.

Sharma said they had taken into custody some persons including some TDP MLAs for violating prohibitory orders.
