‘ISI-mark pumps can save 40 MU’

Giving a shot in the arm to the state government, the Assembly Estimates Committee on Monday suggested replacing substandard pump sets used in the agriculture sector, with ISI marked pump sets to minimise power consumption and thus lessen power crisis in the state.

The suggestion was mooted during the Estimates Committee meeting at the Assembly premises here on Monday, under the chairmanship of MLA Cheraku Mutyam Reddy.

But the committee could not formulate an action plan on how to implement this suggestion as it would be a financial burden on the poor farmers in the state.

The committee directed Transco officials and agricultural departments to examine this suggestion in detail and prepare a report.
