SCCL registers 7% growth

The state-run Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) said it produced 23.134 million tonnes (MT) of coal during the first six months of the current financial year 2012-13, registering a growth of 7 per cent over the corresponding period of last year.

According to the SCCL, the company registered a growth in coal production despite heavy rains received during the last two months. The coal supplies increased by 8.3 per cent at 25.129 MT between April and September as against 23.207 MT during the same period a year ago. Similarly, coal supplies to state-run power producer AP Genco increased to 9.958 MT during the first half of the current fiscal from 8.40 MT the pervious year, amounting to 173 per cent of fuel supply agreement (FSA) contracted quantity. CMD of SCCL Sutirtha Bhattacharya urged employees to make concerted efforts to achieve the annual target of 54 MT in order to meet the increasing demand from power and other key sectors.
