The bird print for the free spirit in you

Animal print, the one fashion trend that never quite got around to the streets in India, has now come up with a somewhat milder, more wearable form not to mention trendier, that even the Indian market can embrace. Bird print, the latest version of the animal print, was first featured in the Spring 2012 collections of big names like Jill Stuart, Carolina Herrera and Marc by Marc Jacobs and gradually filtered down to mass production in early 2013. Anyone wondering if they’re outdated already should have their doubts dispelled by the spring/summer 2013 collections that have continued to use bird prints and animal motifs.  However, incorporating something like bird print in Indian street wear seems like an act of courage. If you want to pull off this trend, team your bird print dress with neutral coloured pieces.

When experimenting with this style, make sure you don’t go overboard with prints. Incorporate at least one neutral colour in your attire.

Printed top: Every bird printed piece of clothing has one trademark colour that the pattern is based on. So finding coloured pants that work with it shouldn’t be too hard. The ensemble can then be paired with beige accessories to keep the look sober and classy effortlessly.

Printed dress: Bird printed dresses, more than any other form of clothing, are all the rage right now. These can be found in branded outlets as well as on the streets. Fortunately, they are also the easiest to accessorise and wear.

A monochrome dress with a blackprint, simple and yet elegant, paired with tan oxfords and a tan sling bag would make for the perfect outfit for a casual outing with friends that would still leave them impressed.

Bird printed shorts: While we’ve stuck with safe colours for the previous two outfits, making the most of this trend would mean experimenting with the wide variety of colours available in the market. Shorts, are perfect to steal in a dash of colour. Red shorts with a bold bird print teamed with a white tank top, white wedges and a black cropped jacket would make an ensemble that screams sophistication.

Shoes: You can also go for bird printed pumps. You can team a summer dress in a solid colour like white or yellow with printed shoes. Make sure you keep the accessories minimal.

Bird printed jackets: Printed jackets are a rage this summer. For an evening out with friends opt for a jumpsuit in a solid colour and throw a bird printed jacket to complete the look. You can match your shoes with the jacket. Carry a big envelope clutch to complete the look.
