AILU condemns Jaipur lathicharge

All India Lawyers’ Union (AILU), AP state committee on Sunday condemned the brutal lathicharge against thousands of advocates in Jaipur on Wednesday. Scores of advocates were injured in the lathi-charge.

They demanded stringent action against erring officials, and extended their support to the Bar Council of India’s call of abstaining the courts on March 11.

The advocates in Jaipur on Wednesday took out a protest rally demanding allotment of house sites, provisions for construction of houses on subsidy rates and allowance of `2,000 per month for junior advocates.

When they were near the Assembly to submit a memorandum to chief minister Ashok Gehlot, police tried to disperse them with lathi-charge.

A similar incident took place in Chandigarh. AILU state office bearers said that the demands are long pending with the government.
