Cosmic forces cannot be controlled

All of you have watched movies in a theatre. The pictures that are appearing on the screen have begun as a point of light from the projector and then widen into a beam.

When this beam reaches the screen, it manifests as a moving picture. The people watching the movie are unaware of the projector, the point of light and the beam. They are completely absorbed in the movie on the screen. But the man operating the projector sees the point of light, the beam and the pictures as one integral process. Similarly, self-realised souls see the past, present and future as an integral unit of time.

Roopa came back after receiving a phone call and said, “Pujya Guruji, Sri Ratnagiri has called. He is at the ashram gate. I told him that the personal interview session has been concluded for today. The traffic jam delayed him for more than two hours. So he could not get here in time. He is still on the line and wants to know whether he can come in and get your blessings.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said - “Yes, tell him to come in.” As Roopa went back to talk on the phone, a devotee Venkat Rao said, “Pujya Guruji, though we plan in advance and meticulously chalk out schedules, certain factors over which we have no control, creep in and things don’t go as we planned them.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said, “You must do what lies in your power and stop focusing on circumstances that you can’t change. Why do you waste your time and energy worrying about things that are beyond your control? Karmic factors and cosmic forces cannot normally be controlled by you. Let us say that you have planned a major outdoor event where good weather is important. So you spend all night worrying about the weather and are unable to sleep. Finally when a clear, cloudless, bright day dawns, you are drained out and unable to make the best of it. So do whatever is in your power and simply surrender to the divine will.”

A white bearded gentleman entered the hall with his friend. From the way in which they looked around the darshan hall, it was obvious that they were coming here for the first time. Roopa escorted them to Shri Nimishananda Guruji and said, “This is Sri Ratnagiri, Pujya Guruji.” The visitors prostrated at Pujya Guruji’s feet and received his blessings. Shri Nimishananda Guruji smiled benevolently at them and asked them to sit down.

Sitting cross legged on the carpet near Shri Nimishananda Guruji, Ratnagiri said, “Pujya Guruji, we have been trying to get a personal interview with you for so many weeks but were not successful. Finally we got an appointment today. We are here but too late for our appointment.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said, “Yes, today’s interviews are over. I waited for you till 7.30 pm though your appointment was at 5.45 pm.”
