The People’s Union for Civil Liberties has condemned the arrest of its state general secretary D Prakash in Guntur on Thursday in connection with an alleged attempt to murder case filed by one Chitti Babu at Chirala in Prakasam district.
Alleging that Chitti Babu was a close associate of Congress MLA from Chirala Amanchi Krishna Mohan, the PUCL alleged in a statement on Friday that Krishna Mohan had motivated his associates to file false cases against the PUCL activists. The attempt-to-murder case was also filed against PUCL state president Jaya Vindyala, PUCL’s Prakasam district president D Vijay Sundar and two others, apart from Prakash, in Chirala recently. Prakash was held in Guntur on Thursday.
