A woman Sirisha filed a petition in the SHRC on Thursday seeking protection from her NRI husband. He threatened to kidnap her and her daughter. Sirisha married Uday and later the couple shifted to USA in 2005.
Uday later started harassing Sirisha for additional dowry and forcibly sent her back to Hyderabad when she was pregnant. He also refused to talk to her after she gave birth to a baby girl.
After a few months, Sirisha received a mail from Uday with a demand of `20 lakh as dowry. He threatened Sirisha’s parents of kidnapping their daughter and grand daughter if they failed to meet his demand.
Sirisha approached the SHRC on Thursday seeking protection from the NRI husband.
