IMT Celebrates Management Fest

HYDERABAD: The first ever management fest imPelz by Institute of Management Technology(IMT), Hyderabad began on Friday. The B-school in its fourth year has inaugurated its first ever fest to host a plethora of unique events to encourage and provide a fun-filled platform to all the participants across the country.

The fest, imPelz is designed to create opportunities for students to apply the knowledge from the various meticulously designed courses. The eight clubs of IMT are all set to conduct the finals of their respective events. The clubs include Mercatus Mantra (marketing), Athena (strategy), Mudra and Amaya (cultural), E-Cell (entrepreneurship), Rhetoric (debate), Opuskriya (operations), I’M HR (human resource management) and Finacea (finance).

Speaking at the Fest, Dr Srividya Raghavan, professor and chairperson- admissions said, “We just decided to go about it slightly differently. We started the process a month ago where we used online portals and campus ambassador programmes to reach out to colleges across the country thereby getting completing the preliminary rounds. We have invited about 140 finalists to our campus for the fest.”

The idea behind the festival being to apply the knowledge students have gained at the academic institute. The fest provides a platform to interact with both industry and other schools as well.

IMT witnessed a vibrant and optimistic mood this week, before the batch of 2015 pass out within few months.

With colourful installations and fun induced competitions in seminar halls, IMT- Hyderabad is all set to welcome all the B-schools. Abhishek S, the student coordinator of imPelz said, “This is the first National level Management fest that is happening at IMT-Hyderabad. We are expecting a footfall of 800 people with about 140 participants. All the clubs would host both minor events with on-the-spot registration and major events for which the registrations are closed. The jury for all the events are from management background working with different companies. We would also have cultural events in the evenings beginning with a stand-up comedy show.”

Fun apart, the fest also aims at corporate exposure and placements. Sindhura Akella, the student coordinator of imPelz said, “This fest is an amalgamation of eight different clubs formed for every discipline in the college. All of us have brainstormed on what goes into a complete case study and we are sharing our respective disciplines information so that it helps us in the long run.”

The goal is to bring the other B-schools together.

The fest has also acted as a catalyst for the placements which began in the first week of November with 39 companies.

The other B-schools participating in the fest include SP Jain Institute of Management and Research - Mumbai, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management - Pune, TAPMI - Manipal, Welingkar Institute - Mumbai, ICFAI Business School - Hyderabad, IIM Indore to name a few.
