HYDERABAD: After the cyclone Hudhud ravaged the three districts of Andhra Pradesh causing immense loss and destruction, a group of artists decided to put their artistic skills to use towards raising funds for the victims.

‘Art Indeed’ is a collective thought conceived by artists from the city to support the victims of Hudhud flood. Over 96 artists from the city have displayed around 150 artworks at Muse art gallery to generate funds for the flood related relief measures.

The wide array of works contributed by the large group of artists is perhaps the hallmark of the show. The paintings and sculptures displayed have been rendered in varied techniques and concepts. The viewer gets to experience the iridescent shades of life from multiple perspectives. While, some artists choose to be figurative the others have translated their thoughts onto their medium of expression in abstract and non-representational manner.

The curator of the show DVS Krishna who is also an artist, has made sure to include works by very senior artists such as Laxma Goud and T. Vaikuntam, besides works by some young and upcoming artists. Speaking about the present show, DVS Krishna says, “In the aftermath of the calamity there is an urgent need to extend help and support in every possible way. In this regard, as artists of the Telugu speaking states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, we realize our responsibility wish to respond by expressing our deep felt concern to fellow citizens at this crucial juncture with our charity show. We hope that this small gesture of ours will go a long way to prove that art in times of need is art indeed.”

The present show will go on at Muse art gallery till November 22.
