If you are one of those people who was always fascinated by artists and the way they think before working on a piece of art, then attend the art workshop at Lamakaan on February 22. Artists from various genres, like sculpting, painting, pottery, graphic art and so on will be coming together to display and speak about their work. The event, which is being organised by Tree Huggers Club, will witness around 28 artists from across the country who will come together to promote art by exhibiting their works.
“We are arranging workshops so that people will know the artists, their work and understand their passion for it” said Supreeta Amancherla, founder, Tree Huggers Club, adding that they a charge nominal amount from artists to participate in the workshop.
Discussion sessions have been arranged, where a few artists will speak about what art means to them, their respective journey in the world of art, their biggest influences, and so on.
Though the price of the art will not be displayed, the organisers insist that visitors can purchase it by negotiating with the artist. “This aspect connects to one of our objectives. Usually people buy from commercial stores because it looks pretty and do not pay attention to the details. But if they buy it from an artist in person, he will explain the story behind the work, what it signifies and other details, giving a personal touch to what people buy” said Supreeta.
The discussions will be followed by a live music performance, pottery and dye, and so on. “At the end of the workshop we will provide an empty canvas where all the participating artists can choose to do whatever they want to, it could be a painting, or a piece of literature” said Supreeta, adding that artists will also be promoting their classes or other information.
